The Systems group is responsible for designing, implementing and supporting a wide range of proprietary systems and applications related to the trading and operations activities that take place in the merchant electricity industry. § Designed, implemented, tested and supported a Microsoft Visual C++/MFCtm application, TradeDesk2, that is used by the 24-Hour Desk. These traders are responsible for buying and selling electricity and transmission on the wholesale market and use TradeDesk2 to perform all required tasks. The TradeDesk2 application includes ADO, ActiveX data controls and communicates directly with both the proprietary trading system employed by Constellation and an Accesstm database. The TradeDesk2 application provides an extensive suite of trading tools that can be used to both trade and review prior trading activity. The application also provides are wide range of HTML/Internet reports as well as a context-sensitive, Internet Help system. TradeDesk2 is an active project and is undergoing nearly constant evolution due to the changing nature of the wholesale electricity market. |

7/1997 – 4/2000 Cable & Wireless USA Vienna, VA Software Engineer § Member of a small team (six people) working to implement a communication and database application in a Tandem/Compaq Non-Stop Kerneltm environment using 'C' and embedded SQL. § Designed and implemented and tested a Microsoft Visual C++/MFCtm project. The application is a GUI front-end for a network configuration and provisioning system. § Set up and managed a version control system using Microsoft SourceSafetm. § Responsible for construction/maintenance of HTML/Intranet application help pages using AOLPresstm, Microsoft FrontPagetm, and DreamWeavertm. |

Duties included the management of one internal and two contractual technical writers, development of documentation specifications and processes, and acting as liaison between Project Management and Engineering staff. |

Ellicott City, MD Application Engineer § Broad responsibilities included: Windows (GUI/API) application design, development and support using C, Visual Basictm, MS Visual C++tm and Wonderware's Intouchtm environment. § Projects included an eight-channel, serial protocol processing and data communication application for a machine control application for the corrugating industry and a Man-Machine Interface (MMI) application, working in concert with a custom PLC machine control system. § 1988 Responsible for all documentary aspects of project management including design specifications, training curricula, operations manuals, and marketing and sales materials. § Principal field engineer for many industrial application startups which required independent action and extensive domestic and international travel. |

Formulated and implemented a sales and marketing strategy for both FECOStm and mDACStm. Responsible for technical and customer support operations, both pre- and post-sale. § Independently developed both product and application documentation used to support the marketing of the FECOStm and mDACStm products. This work included promotional video scripting, 35mm color slide presentations, planning international distributor meetings, and presentation and brochure design. § Traveled extensively in Germany, Holland, England, Poland and within the United States to support distributors and develop product specifications from distributor and customer input. § Staff Engineer and Project Team Leader responsible for system design, implementation and support for the FECOStm (Frederick Engineering Communication Operating System) product. Author of both in-house and customer documentation used to support the FECOStm product. § Key member of the team responsible for the design and implementation of a PC-based, 16-port T-1 switching system, the mDACStm. The mDACStm team was also responsible for the development of end-user documentation and a programmers' guide for the system hardware, consisting of 2 PC interface cards. |

§ Active member, in good standing, of the Lewis County EMS Squad. § Volunteer naturalist with the Patapsco Valley State Park; activities include planning and presenting campfire programs for overnight guests. These programs include music, jokes, stories, skits and blazing campfires. § Dedicated amateur musician. Studying the guitar, mandolin and fiddle with a focus on Bluegrass and folk styles. § Avid stamp collector with sizeable collections of both United States and Soviet Union stamps. |
